Only a few simple steps are needed to prepare your personalised photo mosaic order. Here is our guide :
1. Choosing the main photo
Whether it is a portrait, a landscape, an object, or even a logo, the most important thing is that the subject is evenly lit, sharp, and stands out clearly from the background. If it is a face, it should preferably be a close-up, without too many areas of shadow. For a landscape, it is better to choose an image with several different elements and colors (house, trees, etc.). Otherwise, the final result may appear too flat.
The ideal main photo can be :
- A close-up face (the best choice for a perfect result!)
- A couple
- A family photo (provided that the faces are well-lit and framed closely)
- A landscape with strong contrasts and a varied composition
- A pet
- An object, location, or another meaningful symbol

It is possible to create a photo montage to combine several people into the main image.
2. Gathering the background photos (your memories)
Now it’s your turn ! Select and gather all the pictures that will make up the main image. To avoid having too many repeated photos, we recommend sending between 400 and 500 unique images. A photo mosaic artwork is made up of approximately 2,400 small photo tiles. By providing 400 photos, each image will appear around 6 times in total. Of course, the larger the final format, the more different photos will be needed.
Out tips :
- Send between 200 and 1,000 photos (below 150 photos, repetitions will become too noticeable)
- Select unique images and avoid burst photos (they will look almost identical once converted into small thumbnails)
- If possible, vary the type of photos (travels, family celebrations, weddings, everyday moments, etc.)
- Don’t worry about the quality of your small photos : there are no strict technical requirements regarding pixels or sharpness
- If you want to include photos paper, that is possible ! Simply take a photo of them or scan them as a sheet

Each photo tile measures at least 1.6 cm on one side. The larger the final format, the bigger the photo tiles will be (up to 2.5 cm).

A canvas ready to be hang on the wall. It has an artistic and traditional appearance. However, the texture of the canvas may slightly reduce the readability of the small photos.
Lightweight and affordable, it offers a modern and vibrant finish. A frame will need to be added separately, usually in black, to enhance the appearance of the photo mosaic.
Whether you choose a canvas or a poster, the printing is always done in high definition, with bright and vibrant colours !

Ideally, we recommend a minimum of 150 to 200 different photos to prevent the same images from being repeated too often.
Is it possible to see the result before printing ?

Are the photos still visible when viewed up close ?
Yes, this is the whole principle of a personalised photo mosaic. When you move closer, you will be able to distinguish each of the small photos that make up the main image. They measure at least 1.6 cm on each side. The faces in photos featuring one, two, or three people will therefore remain clearly visible.
For images containing more than three people, and when the elements become smaller, they will be less recognisable. In this case, it is the overall image of the small photo that will be easier to identify rather than individual details.
